2009 Pioneer Passport To Christmas Goes Green!

Langley, BC, November 23, 2009 Langley’s 3rd Pioneer Passport to Christmas launched at the National Historic Site of Fort Langley during the Douglas Day Events on Nov 21st. Friends of the Fort, Parks Canada Historic Site staff, and other Pioneer Passport Partners were on hand to promote the launch of 2009’s Pioneer Passport.

The pioneer theme of the passport was created to encourage moving beyond the highly commercialized Christmas shopping experience to discover the old fashioned warmth of Christmas. “Historic Fort Langley was a very appropriate venue with fiddlers, period costumes, and other historical activities, to launch our event, and in the theme of simplicity, our Pioneer Passport is going green this year”, says Judy Campbell, 2009 passport coordinator. “This means that instead of printing many thousands of passports, for random distribution, organizers have placed the passport and Christmas events on line at www.pioneerpassporttochristmas.com. The public is encouraged to go on line, print off a copy and begin their tour.

Pioneer Passport 2009 features Krause Berry Farms, Potters Christmas Store, Tuscan Farm Gardens, Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm & Meadery, The Fort Wine Company, Tourism Langley, Parks Canada National Historic Site of Fort Langley, and Friends of the Fort Gift Shop.

Experience unique and pleasurable shopping throughout the Fraser Valley’s Agricultural Community, and find a variety of Christmas activities and workshops available at various locations, to enhance the enjoyment of this pre-Christmas period. Lavender, gifts, collectibles, holly, honey, candy, pies, jams, wines, poinsettias, stocking stuffers and much more can be found on the passport tour.

The Pioneer Passport runs from Nov 21 to Dec 16th. “It is our pleasure to once again offer the grand prize of a $1000 shopping spree” says Ed Holden of Potters, and “The grand prize draw will take place on Dec 17th at 5:00 p.m. at Potters Christmas Store”. There are also gift basket draws from each of the passport destinations. 4 Stamps are required to be eligible to enter the draw for gift baskets and 5 stamps are required to enter for the grand prize. Gift basket winners will pick up their prize at the sponsoring location, following the Dec 17th draws.
